Ahmadi: Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) has unveiled an ambitious new strategy to boost the country's oil production capacity by 33% by the year 2040. This expansion plan is set to further solidify Kuwait’s position as one of the world’s leading oil producers, even as global markets continue to transition toward cleaner energy sources.
The initiative, which is part of KPC’s long-term growth strategy, aims to increase the nation’s daily oil output to 4 million barrels per day (bpd), up from its current capacity of around 3 million bpd. The plan will involve significant investments in infrastructure, enhanced recovery technologies, and the development of new fields.

"Kuwait’s oil reserves remain among the largest in the world, and this expansion plan will allow us to maximize production while maintaining environmental responsibility and efficiency," said Shaikh Nawaf Al-Sabah, CEO of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation. "This strategic increase in capacity ensures that Kuwait will continue to be a major player in global energy markets well into the future.
Industry analysts suggest that Kuwait’s move to expand production comes as part of a broader strategy to secure its revenue streams amid fluctuating oil prices and growing calls for energy diversification. However, the decision to ramp up production also highlights the country’s determination to retain its influence in the global energy market.
